Try as we might, the life we live does not arrive bubble wrapped, inside of a suitable box, and stamped with a large Handle With Care label. Sometimes it resembles a torn open, rain-soaked package that has been drop kicked onto the doorstep, landing upside down.

It is easy in trying times to think of yourself as one small cog in the machine, a spec in the wheel of time. What can I do? What influence will this meager bit make? Childhood memories of Southern family gatherings illustrate that impact is not just how much you pay for dinner. My mission was clear and the duty assigned in no particular order. Going back to the beginning and remembering why I created this blog: to be a healing influence in an otherwise fractured world. Life is messy, complicated, and takes liberties to throw you off track and off kilter. But it is always, and forevermore, stunning in its beauty.

We gather together as friends, a simple thing, really. That's what we are.
